In **July 1965**, Hendrix made his first television appearance on Nashville’s Channel 5 Night Train. Performing in Little Richard’s ensemble band, he backed up vocalists Buddy and Stacy on “Shotgun”. The video recording of the show marks the earliest known footage of Hendrix performing.
You can see around halfway he’s about to go off, but holds back. Amazing
Jimi Hendrix had creative flair and I wish I could have seen and heard more
Two years later he rocked the entire world.
Is it my imagination or does this open with flipped footage showing Jimi playing “right handed”?
He knew he was far too good to be in the background, you cn tell he badly wanted to shred it. Completely destined to become an absolute legend and live on forever through music!
My understanding is that Little Richard kind of resented how good Jimi was. He didn’t want Jimi upstaging him and had him fired over it.
Those singers trousers ain’t hiding much. Amazed it got shown on TV.
What a killer groove too!
You can hear him going OFF during the bridge.
.. woah 😳 🤯
Did I just watch them doing the Macarena dance?
Spot the lefty.
Sorry to be ignorant~ is Jimi the left dancer or the guitar player on the left? Just want to be sure~ thanx
Is it just me or does anyone else wish that men went back to wearing tight fitting and possibly high waisted pants? I want to see some nice asses for goodness sake!
I was so mesmerized by the dancing I forgot to even look for Hendrix
That top hand slide , was unheard of. Getting his chops in.
I’m given to understand that he didn’t even own his own guitar at the time. Two years later, he receives a standing ovation from the likes of the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, and The Who.
That kind of sudden fame is enough to kill anyone.
You can see how Prince was influenced by entire group.
This song sounds just like Ain’t No Telling by Hendrix
Are they packin heat or just glad to be singing?
From Shotgun to Machine Gun. A few short years for a man, a long way for mankind.
2 years later at Monterey Pop. Like a different person
As well as playing his own part, the famous E7(#9), he’s also doubling the bass line and in parts he’s doubling the horn section parts. He’s playing circles around everyone onstage.
You can tell the way Jimi was moving here that he was destined to become a more spotlight attraction.
Hard to believe he’d be dead in only five years.
