I mean, lots of video games way more gory deaths than this. Even the Tomb Raider reboot had some pretty nasty ones. But….. it’s all about the eyes. It’s a *very* specific thing happening to someone’s eye which makes a lot of people (me included) really squeamish. To this day I’d have to solve the puzzle without actually looking the screen, meaning Issac would actually die quite a lot
Edit: thinking about it SOLVING the puzzle is more gross than failing it

Almost all the ways Isaac dies in dead space 1, 2 are gruesome. This one is totally player controlled though, since the PLAYER is the needle and not a necromoph.
Quake 4 getting turned into a strogg, should be up there.
There’s one other death I can think of.
After the first mission of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, one of your guys gets his head stomped on by a security bot. There’s no head to speak of after that. It’s just a blood splat on the surface of Europa.

You’ve never played wolfenstein new colossus where you watch a man have his head curb stomped by a robot and and turned into a flattened bloody head puddle all over the ground. That game also forces you to choose which of your teams mates will be killed.

My initial thought was “I don’t remember the reapers doing this to Shepherd” but it’s dead space apparently. Shaved heads was the easiest character design for mid 2000s games I guess.
Honestly. This made me so squeamish when I was doing this each time because I wanted to keep doing new game plus. But this moment always made me squeamish and uncomfortable
I’ve had Lasik eye surgery done. The first eye isn’t bad, but when you have to endure them cutting into your 2nd eye with what feels and looks like a cigar cutter… it’s very unpleasant and if anyone is looking to get this done ever, take the Xanax. For the love of God take the Xanax.

I’m glad I got lasik before seeing this.
This bit was extra stressful when playing on the hardest difficulty with only 3 saves. But the finger bang gun was worth it as it was hilarious to my 21 y/o ass.
Can anyone tell me why you go through this in game? What’s the purpose of stepping into this machine

Dead Space was one of those games where any time there was a quicktime event, I would just set the controller down. Tomb Raider is another one, where you just want to see what the animators did to brutalize this person. “Sorry Lara, maybe on the next time around.”
Dead Space has some doozies. The dismembered heads with tentacles come to mind.
This man has never played Mortal Kombat.
