If anyone is wondering, it´s about a 50th birthday party where the male guests are drunken as hell, knives come out for the hell of it, and the birthday boy get stabbed to death. For good measure, they throw his now pissed wife down the well to drown.
The chorus is in essence: ”say your cheers, draw your knives. Birthdays should always be this fun, drunken and happy”
Making light of murder, vice and depravity is an old traditional theme in Swedish folk, and this ”new-traditional” folk is hitting the spot quite nicely.
Now I know where the ABBA vibe comes from and it’s all good.
