This statue depicts Saint Bartholomew, an early Christian martyr who was allegedly skinned alive. If you look closely, that’s his dissected skin hanging around him. This stunning statute by Marco d’Agrate from c.1562 is currently on display at Duomo di Milano.

A believer was killed gruesomely because of his/her faith? Make them a saint!

That dude is ripped! Training goals.
Who did he piss off?
Metal
There were people skinned alive throughout history. The detachment of skin from the hands and feet look however much more like a body recovered from water. The presence of such detachment can be used to estimate the time the body has spent in the water (using the rule of REH, for those who are interested). Another way skin can become detached like that is being doused in petrol, but not ignited.
It would be interesting to learn how the whole story goes.
“Skinned Alive By Heathens” sounds like it could fit on any metal album.
Amazing…and disturbing at the same time.
Nips still ready to cut glass, dissected or not.
Inspirational body fat ratio.
Dude hasn’t had a single carb his whole life!
And yet he’s about to read that book
It amazes me that statues like were created by hand; no precision lasers or anything.
