You ever try to dig a hole with a shovel? That’s what spades are for. Shovels are for shovelling, spades are for digging. You can get round nosed shovels, but unless the soil is very loose, the blade is not fit for digging. You can use it to scoop soil out of a hole you have dug, but I wouldn’t use it to dig the hole.
