There are so many games that were classics that hardly lived past their console generation. What games would you like to be remade for the current generation?

i would love to see another vanquish sequel made also another splatterhouse 3d game and lastly ashura’s wrath sequel that’s about it

Dude I forgot about lost planet, my buddy and I picked up the 2nd one during summer vacation in like 2010 and hated it, everything was so clunky compared to other co-op shooters at the time.
We brought it back to gamestop and grabbed army of 2 instead and just played that for like a week.
Maybe not in line with your original sentiment, but while I totally understand why the are remaking FF7, I would love to see an FF8 remake (and honestly it could use it more). FF8 was my first FF game so it holds a special place in my heart. And honestly, I’m worried about the potential changes they are going to make to 7 (I’m not a fan of the plot ghosts), but I think 8 could be changed to be a bit more grounded (especially the events after then end of disk 2). Also 8’s junction system was pretty famous for being poorly balanced, but I think in a remake the concept could be really great if balanced well. I don’t know that we’ll ever get 8 remake in the same quality, but I’d love to see what it could be.

The Darkness 1 and 2 would be fun, especially the first one. The game is good, but it’s not my favorite gunplay. Especially after playing 2.
I would love a remake of The Thing. That game was way ahead of its time and can’t believe it’s been over 20 yrs since it came out

Remake/spiritual successor: Quest 64 (N64)
JC1&2 were cool monster battlers, I’d like to see them made with modern graphics and some refinements to their genetics/breeding mechanics.
I’d love to see a fully fleshed out and modernized Q64 magic & combat system. Elemental spell blending, stat constrained movement (and the ability to dodge spells manually), wrapped in an active-time battle system that uses the world itself as the arenas (instead of traditional jrpg “scenic arenas”) would make for a super unique RPG.
I hate what Lost Planet became. The first one was amazing, the third game was an abomination.

If DICE weren’t incompetent, I’d say Bad Company 1 or 2. I’d love a remake of UT99′ but I don’t think zoomers would get it. They like their shooters all lame an shit. Timesplitters would also be GG.

Resistance I feel needs a remake for the current gen, what was not to love? A world around the ww2 era being invaded and taken over from advanced aliens and humans being infected, captured and ultimately turned into the corpse smelling abominations you have to fight most the game.

Let me introduce you all to my *field of dead horses* (how long have I been maligning its lack of existence?) and the game Gladius. Turn based gladiatorial combat with your school of up to 20 warriors of 16 different character classes. Arenas varying in grandiosity; tiny crap areas or immense marble edifices.
And just to add another that lies in the same state of *shouldn’t have been forgotten* : Jade Empire
TimeSplitters probably, I’d love to see a reboot of the series. Or at least a Remake
