It looks like they butchered this adaptation, there wasn’t even a car. The whole game was driving cars!

So is Flanagan purposefully working in pairs with his Netflix titles?

Haunting of Hill House / Haunting of Bly Manor

Midnight Mass / The Midnight Club

    Or just a coincidence?

I hate this style of teaser. They did the same thing for Locke & Key which turned me off right away. These kind of teasers give you no idea what kind of tone the show will have and just come off corny.

that stairs seems to be from the same set as hill house, the casting looks very cw-ish, im not very hopeful for this one…

It feels like it is being aimed at a younger audience. More for high schoolers and younger college kids than an adult audience.

    What is the plot about?

Flanagan = Instawatch for me. I’ll do a rewatch of Hill House/Bly Manor/Midnight Mass ahead of time as well for good measure.

    IMDb synopsis for those wondering:

    >The Midnight Club follows a group of five terminally ill patients at Brightcliffe Hospice, who begin to gather together at midnight to share scary stories.

Interesting how they’re all young people, though I know it’s based on a book so I’m guessing that’s just cause that’s what the author wrote. It doesn’t seem as exciting, to me, as Flanagan’s other projects as it does feel a bit more juvenile or catering to that most valuable of demographics. But! I’m willing to check it out, I love me something spooky and he’s such a great filmmaker that I’m (tentatively) down.

“At a manor with a mysterious history, the 8 members of the Midnight Club meet each night at midnight to tell sinister stories – and to look for signs of the supernatural from the beyond. Based on the beloved Christopher Pike book series, and brought to life by the creators of The Haunting of Hill House.”

So… it’s Are You Afraid Of The Dark except not at a campfire?

I know its too early to tell but this one doesn’t seem to appeal to me nearly as much. Its missing that subtle somber ambiance i loved from the other seasons.

Oh hell yeah, I was OBSESSED with Christopher Pike books when I was young, I still have almost all of the not Spooksville books. Can’t wait.
