Photographer Henry Diltz captured this rear cover photo. This was in the “Skid Row” section of LA, in a building from the 1930’s. This was taken the same day as the front and interior LP photos. Years later, Diltz recalled a call from a London restauranteur asking about “desiring to name a restaurant after the back cover.”
So this is confusing to me. The original Hard Rock wasn’t founded until 1971 in London. Was this just a random Hard Rock unrelated to the chain? Is this after 1969 and the title is wrong?
(I used to work in London’s HRC and they had shirts saying, “the original” and I had to learn a touch about the history.)
This had no connection to the chain of restaurants until two dudes that loved the album contacted the Doors to ask permission to use the name for a future restaurant, which became the chain

Now that’s cool 👌
What’s so cool about those doors
Also, The Dros.
The original was awesome. The global chain not so much.
The older dudes are long gone, but I wonder what those younger bros are doing today.
Robbie looks like he’s trying to drum up some business
John looks scared or at least uneasy lol
