Probably because most of the movies with teenager characters in the 80s had actors well into their 20s.
They look like any number of kids you’d find in an American high school today (with different clothes and haircuts).

They all look 12 to me, but I am nearly 60.
It’s all about your perspective. The clothes they wear and the way they style their hair makes them look old because the only people you see that look like that now *are* old people. It’s the same with every generation. Same reason certain names sound like old people names. In 60 years kids are going to hear the name ‘Aiden’ and be like “eww that’s an old man name”.

Exactly….old guy here saying that age is what you perceive…I grew up with that band and they looked hella mature and dangerous when I was a kid…now they look like wanna be skater kids whose voices haven’t changed yet…

I see young kids who happened to strike gold, so to speak. They look young because they are young. I bet none of them had a clue of what they would become. Just kids playing in a band and enjoying life. Thanks fellas.

When I was a middle school kid, they looked old. Now that I’m old, they look like middle school kids.

And there was a brief trend for teenagers to dress “sharp”, like they were all getting up and going into the office instead of heading to high school. Pleated skirts, vests, and blazers… it was weird.

Having shot a music video with them back around that time, I can pretty much guarantee that at the time this pic was taken, the boys were drunk/high enough to not know where the fuck they were or why they were there.
