My friend’s former MiL was like that. She would keep track of which door people came in, and made them leave the house through the same door.

In my country there’s tradition that you don’t enter cemetery through the large gate. Living use the small gate to walk through, the dead carried/transported though the large gate. Maybe something like that?
I feel like this sometimes when I use the self-checkout at the store, pay and take the receipt with the barcode, walk up to the exit gate to blip it and open the doors, notice the doors are already open, but then hold up the receipt and blip it anyway, and shortly afterwards realise how little sense that made.
That is a man who normally leaves when the big gate is closed. As he has for 40 years.

In Flanders, Belgium, we call this ‘den draad’. Like there is a thread/wire coming from your bum and you need to retrace your steps not to become stuck.
So lucky that they just happened to be filming that random spot and then THAT HAPPENED! Yup, definitely luck. Nothing else.
