They tried to hire a sign painter that would lie and paint a sign that read 69,420 but all the sign painters were afraid of being hanged for lying. The city council tried to change the penalty for lying to a misdemeanor, but they were short one vote because one of their members was attending his son’s funeral after he was hanged.
