It also reminds me of a few Christmases ago I got my mom (ahead of time) this really cool Pink Floyd shirt because she’s a huge fan. It was done up really cool in bright yellows, pinks, and blues with a rocker font on it.
So I bought it, tossed it in a bin with other family member gifts to wrap when it got closer to Christmas, and didn’t think about it for about a month or so.
So a few days before Christmas I get to wrapping, and the shirt was already folded so it was really easy to wrap up, there was no gift receipt because I knew my mom would love it. And done!
So we are at my mother’s house for Christmas, the whole family is there. Time comes for my mom to open the shirt and she does and then looks over at me confused. I notice and I say “I know the font is a little hard to read on it but I really liked the colors and I thought you’d love it!”
She is even more confused by this point and turns the shirt around, and I’m looking at it and sunuvabitch that shirt clearly says “Ric Flair” across the front. So I’m looking at my mom, she’s looking back at me, and all my dumbass can say is “I thought it said Pink Floyd”.
Needless to say by this point everyone else had stopped unwrapping and were invested in this travesty, and all my mom can do is burst out laughing.
She kept the shirt, and she’s worn it every Christmas since.
I met Ric Flair many years ago in the Atlanta airport and he was one of the coolest dudes I have ever met. Nothing at all like his persona. We ended up on the same flight, but I didn’t talk to him after boarding the plane. I didn’t ask for an autograph and selfies didn’t exist at the time, but I’ll have that memory with me until my time is up. Ric Flair is a righteous dude!

If that was really 1984, Dwayne wasn’t even a teenager yet.
Before it was about pride or power.
That boys name: Rocky Maivia.
Little known fact the Rock was 4 years old when this picture was taken, that’s why Ric Flair is taller than him.
This is super cool.

Dwayne…son of Rocky Johnson…
Young Rock is a fun little mini series on Peacock.
Featuring the origins of Dwayne Johnson’s upbringing from a kid in Hawaii, to a college athlete, and beyond.
It’s paced in the same way as Everybody Hates Chris. Worth a watch if you enjoy light comedic television. Episodes are 20 min a pop.
Literally 1984.
Who knew the Rock started the pointing at person? I can’t stand it, but in 1984 its cool.
WOO!
