Recent Oscar nominee Barry Keoghan audition piece for Spiderman. I thought this was actually mind-blowing and he would’ve been amazing in the role. Shows you even great auditions can’t nab you a role in Hollywood.

He is way too creepy to be Spider-Man, Spider-Man is like super friendly and he looks if he got mad, he would rip your head off lol

He’s a great actor, but I’m not feeling this. Did he make this himself like Josh Hutcherson did? It’s poorly directed for one thing. I don’t think he would have been right. He is too mysterious looking.

Nah, he’s not right for Spider-Man. I’m also not a fan of these overproduced audition pieces, there’s nothing wrong with just standing in front of the camera and having your mom reading lines from behind the camera. In fact an audition like that is more impressive when the actor still nails the part than sets.

This self tape feels like that scene in Banshees of Inisherin expect he’s awkwardly professing his intentions to the Spider-Man casting director: “You probably wouldn’t ever want to, I don’t know… cast a boy like me as Peter Parker, would ya?” and we all know what the answer is gonna be.

I LOVE Barry’s work but this ain’t it. His accent work in this audition and is terrible (I am sure it’d be better with a coach but in the audition it makes his line delivery so flat). And his general energy is really all wrong for Peter. I’m also really selfishly glad he wasn’t cast because I wouldn’t want to trade the work he’s done in the past 8 years for mcu junk! Give up Killing of a Sacred Deer for a spiderman? Absolutely not.
