Wouldn’t you rather have that moment where you actively participate in an emotional moment in the story instead of just looking on from the sidelines? Yes, it’s a small input for a small action in the game, but if it’s a game centered around relationships, then getting to hold someone’s hand is clearly a significant point in the player’s journey. Emphasizing that significance with an interactive prompt, no matter how small, is good game design.
