And people get upset when defenders come flying through when QBs look like they are giving themselves up…
Yeah, that should be a penalty…
He’s gonna regret the next time he goes to slide…
That should be a penalty
This is how you get your head taken off the next time you slide for real.
This should be illegal. It’s like calling fair catch but deciding to take it to the house. What is the defense supposed to do. Next time they’ll light his ass up, as they should.
That should be the same penalty as if somebody hit him after the slide. Its one thing to protect the QB but when they start finding ways to cheat the rule, thats a big problem. QBs should not be protected like QBs when they take off running but that is beside the point. Next time he slides he should get blown tf up and the flag should stay in the ref’s pocket
That’s bullshit and he should be penalized for that, the same penalty as if the defense hit him while sliding.
This is borderline big time, defense already has to walk on egg shells with the QB and now this? Next time he slides he’s gonna get blown the hell up and then cry to the ref
This goes against the Geneva Conventions.
I’ve never seen anything like that before
Could be called down when he begins the slide ya?
Oh yeah Pitt and Wake Forest in the ACC championship game. Just like everyone predicted.
That dude is going to get drilled next time he starts to slide.
Play should have been blown dead
Shouldn’t we call this a balk?
The slide rule made a lot more sense when the majority of QBs were Peyton Manning types of 6’5 guys who aren’t very nimble and was basically sitting ducks. For these more athletic mobile QBs not so much imo
If you start an intentional slide then youre down, and are considered to be giving up on contact from the defense. You dont need to complete the slide. This should have never been called a TD.
I may not fully understand the rules of baseball but I think this is a balk
I don’t like that at all. He shoulda been ruled down at the spot of the “fake.”
Abusing the good faith of a team abiding a rule specifically enforced to protect a player seems like the kind of thing that will put more players in danger in the future. Seems like a super shit thing to do.
And people will say “whatever it takes” or “a dub is a dub” or whatever else to justify something like this but it’s not a smart play. The defense is going to headhunt you the next time you step forward of the line and no amount of sliding is going to protect you.
Yea this is fucked he should have been down right where he faked because they all stopped and could have easily flattened that guy.
It bothers me even more that he celebrates like he truly earned that knowing the rules and what he did.
That should be illegal, or hitting a sliding QB should be legal.
Announcer on replay in high pitched voice: “fake sliiiide!” 😂
This is unsportsmanlike. It may not be a penalty, but quarterbacks pretending to slide or go out of bounds and then taking a few extra yards is chicken shit and should not be rewarded.
I smell a rule change
I don’t understand what anyone means by initiating the slide and deceiving the opposition.
I’ve never watched American Football much before so I don’t understand the rules. What’s wrong wirh what he djd?
This is going to be problematic
