I had grand mals when I was a little kid and petite mals when I became a teenager and it took a sleep deprivation EEG to catch it happening (24 hours awake, then testing while I slept). Ended up on a medication that made me lose 60lbs over 3 months that summer @.@

I had that test for recently for an unrelated illness.
I did ask about seizures though because I figured that test could trigger one as it creates flashing lights in your head.
My youngest had many of these done after his first seizures. He was repeatedly asked to take part in studies and Children’s Hospital would give him a 50 GC to Toys R Us. He loved doing them. For us it all worked out well since he was diagnosed with benign Rolandic and has since outgrown it. May her prognosis be just as good.
Pro tip, use coconut oil to get the adhesive out of her hair. I have epilepsy and have had more EEGs than I can remember, I have found that coconut oil gets it out the easiest and is way less painful than just scrubbing at it.

Poor kid, I’ve had to go through the sleep deprivation for that test too. Besides being so tired after being awake for 24 hours (and the seemingly never ending and increasingly fast flashing light inducing a seizure) getting the stuff out of my hair was the worst part.

If your daughter doesn’t have epilepsy, please consider having her tested for pediatric lupus or another autoimmune disorder. I had undiagnosed pediatric lupus as a child that caused me to have seizures.
Note: My daughter is a badass and wanted me to share this photo with you folks. She wanted other kids to know that they are not alone. They can face the scary machines. They can trust the doctors and the needles and the wires and the science to get better. And live on.
