I was also into tech at that age. Top of my Xmas list was an electric pencil sharpener.
My parents used to just hand me the toy ads and tell me to look through them and write down what I wanted so they could mail it to Santa. Worked like a charm. Kept me in their price range, occasionally I’d ask for a new bike or something.
Best present I ever got was a teddy bear my mother hand made for me when I was 5.
My dad threw it away because my attachment for it was making me a sissy.
One of many reasons I don’t fondly remember dad 7 years after he died.
