Would this have more of an application in outer space to drive small motors without any friction to wear down the parts?
Also magnets lose their.. forgive my non science knowledge here.. stickiness over time? Is it their polarization or something? Most magnets ive had become less magnetic over time
The problem with these types of inventions isn’t how well they operate under normal conditions, its how well they handle up to abuse.
At some point you are going to abuse your stuff. Everyone does it, either intentionally or not. This is when things matter. After its been abused, how quickly can it bounce back and how much damage has been done because of it
take electric transport trucks for example. They are a great idea for city use but outside that in heavy haul or bush work, they would be terrible because you will use and abuse the piss out of it.
With windings of electric motors being super sensitive to heat and the progressive damage done to them from abuse being so rapid and a steep incline, you would end up burning your motor out extremely quickly.
So while this is cool, in application I would be worried about its tolerance to abuse.
Ok, cool concept…. now apply a load to that and see how your magnetic system holds up. Like, run a dryer tumbler or grocery conveyor belt and see what happens when the system has to apply torque.
No noise, No vibration transmitted? However you see the whole box shaking when turned on… any spinning object will move air and produce some kind of noise

They’re cool, but are they good? Would they be useful on anything other than the lowest of torque applications?
Why does this video have no sound if they want to show that that are quiet?
That’s pretty cool but lets see what happens when it has to try turning something that provides resistance.

This is defintely one of those videos where I went “This is really cool but what is the practical application of this?”
I am prepared to be schooled.
Now add a load on it, and show how it perform, then i will be convinced.
Ok, but how much torque can it apply?
Yeah, It’s cool looking but is it any good? Style only counts for so much for mechanical components.
As-is could be a dope wall clock.
Can this hold my artwork to the refrigerator?
Those claims are bogus

No friction. No loss. Except on the guides keeping the outer gear inline. And air friction. And magnetic eddy currents.
Lol all the Redditors calling this useless. That’s not the point. Its a cool proof-of-concept and might be good in certain applications.
No friction.
No sound.
No vibration.
No torque.
To add to the other comments, also probably about 100 times more expensive than equivalent mechanical gears. Extremely niche product.
not many people remember the gear wars…
A **linear motor** with extra steps.
>All power is transmitted to the propeller without losses
##doubt
Sounds awesome.. why hasn’t this been discovered earlier.
Let’s put a load on them to really test it… oh.. yeah.. ok that makes sense why gear teeth are precision ground.
No losses?
(X) Doubt
Still a cool idea. I could see some good applications for this.
The claims sound a little bullshitty.
“no vibrations transmitted”
it says as the entire bloody assembly vibrates.
It’s cool but seems expensive. I wonder if there will be practical applications.
I can see the magnetic coils inside my clear RGB CPU fan and I’m thinking this operates exactly the same but not using gears..
Doesn’t air resist more than oil when it compresses into that gap?
Ok, cool concept…. now apply a load to that and see how your magnetic system holds up. Like, run a dryer tumbler or grocery conveyor belt and see what happens when the system has to apply torque.
torque idiots in comments lmao
“No vibrations.”
Shows assembly vibrating.
No noise, No vibration transmitted? However you see the whole box shaking when turned on… any spinning object will move air and produce some kind of noise
No sound.
No torque.
I was thinking they were going to use magnets on the inner wheel to change the wheel size and therefore smoothly vary the gear ratio somehow
the actual result was cool though
So, it’s an electric motor but with extra steps?
Any heat issues with the magnets, any longevity problems with the magnetism?
Zero friction prevents wear and noise.
how would the magnets be effected by, or, effect, the environment around them?
You guys mock this now but most technology starts out as shit. It takes al the failures to create a success. Stop being Debby downers.
These will slip under load and they are wrong or lying about having no losses.
> No Friction
> No Noise
> No Vibrations Transmitted
> No need for Precise Alignments
> No Loss in Power
No Torque when under load
