Assume this was when HIV positive people we considered untouchables. He was a hero for everyone for educating America on the realities of HIV versus misinformation and general fear.

She also [appeared on Oprah](https://www.oprah.com/own-where-are-they-now/11-year-old-hivaids-activist-hydeia-who-moved-oprah-to-tears-video) when she was 11. It was absolutely heartbreaking. I’m so glad to hear she is still doing well. She was such a brave little girl.
This was so heartbreaking to watch. I burst right into tears. Sometimes I wonder if the world has made me too cold, but I see something like this and it hits me right in the heart. I feel helpless in situations like this.
A reminder that it is better to understand someone and not just pity them for being different disabled, or in pain.

The Reagan administration and how they joked about AIDS. Absolutely disgusting sub human people. How can anyone be a Republican when you have people like this leading your party. It’s quite clear it’s a party of hate and privilege.

This reminds me of when Magic came back to the NBA after he got diagnosed. A lot of the players were apprehensive about playing defense against him but Dennis Rodman had no problem fouling the shit out of him lol.

It sounds like “…just leave her.” or “…addresses later.” Or “…address this later.”
Maybe it was another girl comforting her saying “We can exchange addresses later.”
Jesus, man. I just wanted to hug her.
Those other kids putting a hand on her shoulder to try to comfort her really got me. I know people like to joke that kids can be cruel (and of course they can be at times, but so can we) but I’ve also seen such genuine compassion and care from children as well and this is a good example of it.

I remember a lot of misinformation about HIV and AIDS back in the 80s. It wasn’t until the 90s when people like Magic Johnson came out and said “I have HIV” and movies like “Philadelphia” came out that really changed the conversation on HIV and AIDS.
