Da-boom-da-da-mmm-dum-na-ee-ma,
Go!”*
I remember when this video came out, way back when MTV was actually relevant. This video was being played constantly on shows like TRL. And when I first saw it, it was mind-blowing. The effects were incredible for the time. And it was enough to make me a Korn fan for a good long while. 😊
Dang they were just kids!!
I’m not sure how I feel about this….
This video of Ray Luzier on drums for Korn playing Freak on a Leash is pretty cool to watch.

23 years ago? Thanks for making me feel old.
#Get off my lawn!
So glad i got to see these guys in concert in Minneapolis last month. Ive listened to Korn since 5th or 6th grade, a good 20 years. I will always love these guys.
Is… is that an adidas kilt?
Still one of the coolest music videos ever made. Cool idea, brilliant execution.
This was by far the best music video ever played on TRL.
Dude probably owns a winery or something now.
My brother stole my t-shirt and still has it…
I was 11 years old and had a very small 13″tv in my room. I BLEW the speakers out of it bc of this music video.
So I had this album, I don’t remember if it was a CD or just downloaded, but I have a vivid memory of Freak On a Leash *sometimes* starting with “I’m just a freak on a leash” and then sometimes starting with “…eash”
Now whenever I come across it, all I hear is “eash” just as the music starts.
Edit: if anyone has the original album can put it in a jank cd player, keep pressing replay over and over again. I swear sometimes it’ll play differently.
Flashbacks to my morning walk to high school with this CD playing in my Panasonic Shockwave discman
For those who might not know, this music video was directed by Todd MacFarlane. The comic book that the bullet tears through is some MacFarlane Spider-Man.
Extremely low earth orbit “anti-grav” bullet tech would be insane. I can’t imagine needing to dodge my responsibilities *and* stray bullets all the time.
Only 23 years? Reading that I feel every single one of those years haha. Brings me back to middle school with follow the leader on my discman and being psyched to watch Woodstock 99 on tv.
24 in August. *sob*
I appreciate the band but I just could never in my life get over the bass player’s technique of basically karate chopping his bass, not producing so much as a tone and instead it’s just the constant thwapthwapthththwap of him fisting his strings into the body of the bass.
I like my bass to produce…. bass. But call me old fashioned.
[Probably the best Korn related interview](https://youtu.be/ar49vFLyNBY)
Fuck, this music is very very bad!
Maybe it’s my age, but music was not “perfect”… like maybe it wasn’t the Golden Age of music, but it was certainly Silver or Bronze. It was up there and much better than today.
This came out when I was in High School, I now feel ancient
One of the best music videos ever imo
I love these “it’s been X years since this really popular song by a really popular band was released, check it out so we can all wax nostalgic” threads.
Jebus stop doing that to me, putting the bloody age of the song in the title!
I wasn’t a fan of this when it was new. But now that it’s 20+ years later, the nostalgia has made me see how much this actually rocked and was different at the time.
This was on its way to well deserved retirement on Total Request Live when Columbine happened. From then on they only mentioned the video but didn’t play it. Really pissed me off as an 11 year old Korn fan.
It’s hard to believe that *that* was the number one video in America.
As a Millennial 20 years ago sounds like the 70s.
The acoustic version with Amy Lee is one of my all time favorite live performances. Their voices work beautifully together.
23 years later and Korn… still sounds like shit
Maybe it’s just me but I feel like nu-metal has gained a renewed appreciation in recent years. I don’t think we are in for a resurgence of nu-metal music but it seems like people are seeing the real talent and uniqueness in bands like Korn, Linkin Park, etc instead of just writing them off as loud edgy angry white boy music.
Rick Beato has a nice breakdown of this song on his YT channel
Haha
as always, terrible
i never loved Korn enough to buy an album but I was glad they existed and were doing something stylish, edgy, and artful. The 90s were a great time for adult animation.
