Everyone talking about NFSU2, but I really wish for a remake of this one

I’ve only played the GBA version which was alright but also a different game technically. Heard Porsche Unleashed has the most realistic handling in the series.
My memory of this game was that it had an absolutely ridiculous level of setup tuning. Like, Gran Turismo level.
I remember camber and caster angle, ride height, spring and damper tuning, I think maybe even gear ratios? It was absolutely bonkers for 12-year-old me who didn’t know what any of it meant and just wanted to drive car fast.
I also remember not being able to get past the 80s era cars in career mode because of how expensive everything was to repair.
Frankly I’d love to have another go at it now that I have a better understanding of racing games in general.
When you start the career mode in this game and you’re at Cote D’Azur with the worst Porsche in the game, it starts REALLY slow but, somehow, the “feeling” of speed is so great, especially when you go downhill and the car starts to get some momentum.
I’ve never felt this feeling of speed in other game, the “wow, the car is really going” effect, even with the slowest cars. Such a great game, I think one of the most mature in the NFS series as well.
Bro I remember Monte Carlo race at night, I thought this game looked like fucking real life. It was 20 years ago I played that, holy fucking damn. 20 years ago.
Core memory unlocked. I played this back on the PS1.
I don’t want any remakes at all. I want new games. Period. Remakes are lazy devs’ cash grab.
idk why, my brain since PS1 times says noooooooope
Fantastic game. Got it as a reward for turning in Pepsi points.
Loved the immersive cockpit view in PU. It was the best first person racing game for many years, IMO.
This is still probably my favorite racing game because it perfectly blended arcade and simulation. Not as “arcadey” as other NFS titles, but not so complex and realistic that it wasn’t actually fun. Evolution mode was the best. Starting out with those old classics and “feeling” all that body roll as you went around curves at a blistering 80mph. This game is what started my love for the 944.
Porsche Unleashed was so great. Some of the most realistic physics in the franchise, great selection of tracks, interesting career mode, cockpit view, car tuning. Some of my earliest memories are of playing this game with a crappy wheel and pedals setup when I was probably 7 or 8 years old.
Same everything with updated graphics would be amazing. I spent so many hours playing this.
I never liked the “Fast and Furious” style NFS games.
Personally I’d love to see High Stakes
This is absolutely my fave NFS game. Best physics of any of them IMO
The game is fantastic and have a modding community that still plays mp and support the game, there is a few fixes and patches to make the game run on modern hardware
Nah we need a new midnight club
May as well play the recent Hot Pursuit. Game forces you to use Porsche more than any other make.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind a Porsche (he says, from behind the wheel of his 09 Civic) but for all the cars in that game it *really* wants to plug Porsche.
