  • Love the visuals, and I’ll probably will end up watching it at some point, but this is like the third film of Mamoru Hosoda’s and Madhouse’s which is basically just the same thing with minor tweaks, so I hope it actually brings something unique?

Digimon Adventure: Our War Game and Summer Wars were also about a digital world where one could escape real life, with digital avatars in similar executions to this film (also directed by Hosoda), wherein the digital world poses a threat upon the physical world, etc. Those two films had some really obvious similarities and re-used ideas, so I can only hope this brings some uniqueness to the same concept… I don’t think the vtuber-esque musical approach saves it from potential repetition and mediocrity. Guess I’ll just have to watch and find out!

Hosoda is a great creator, but I wonder if the “virtual world” setting has its limits on diversity and reusability. Would love to see more akin to Wolf Children or The Girl Who Leapt Through Time.

  • Save yourself the trouble, the plot in this movie is completely scrambled and disconnected. Animations and Music is great tho. But the plot will literally have you shouting “what the fuck is this”
