Why I don’t do collectibles in games every since

Every since?
The Witcher is bad for this too.
Took a left path instead of a right path? Finished too many quests and passed a missable Gwent card? and you don’t keep 150 save files?
Well have fun making another file and grinding for 50 hours so you can get that 1 achievement or card.
No doubt the last two are on the (GTA equivalent) Statue Of Liberty. Using the in-game hint when it came to flying rat locations it didn’t identify that there was 6 of the cretins there alone! Very stressful 100% race to earn a pyshical Key To The City from Rockstar
It gets even better when you aren’t able to get back anymore due to progress.
I was missing one of jokers toy dentures in Batman Arkham Asylum and couldn’t find it. The last piece of collectibles i needed.
I’m still looking for that last balla or vago tag to cover with my grove street tag
Chests in genshin impact. 300 in monstadt? You got to be kidding me.
Collectibles are the scourge of gaming and I’ve been saying that since the fucking feathers from Assassin’s Creed 2.
Spider-Man 2 (PS2) was my collectible hell. I could do it in other open world games but that one had too much and there was no record of which spots you already visited.
Crackdown. The collectibles have a noise they make which supposedly gets louder so you can hear it from farther away the more collectibles you collect to help you find that last ones. But apparently I still missed one. Still have yet to get it to this day.
Ragnarok’s Crows got me fucked up, was missing 2 out of 40 something and turned out they were in a hidden quest. I was thrown for a loop for a full day
Skyrim stones of barenziah. Iirc some could only be obtained on quests so if you missed one you couldn’t complete it. Worst of all I thought I’d be able to wear that sick head piece. I was massively disappointed when I found out I couldn’t. The only upside was being able to find more gems in containers but you basically break the economy when you can craft dragon armour and master enchanting.
For me it was the fucking Stones of cunting Barenziah in Skyrim.
24 of them, scattered around the entire map, tucked away in caves and chests and dungeons, unmarked, each one takes up an inventory slot and they do not stack. All for a worthless trophy in the Thieves Guild, and a *chance* to *maybe* find extra gems when looting certain containers.
Yeah, sorry Bethesda, but you can blow that one out your bumhole.
Those 100 packs in GTA Vice City **killed** me. For the longest time I had 99/100, made periodic trips back around to try and find the last one, it took me years. *Years*. Somehow kept missing the one floating in the golf course sand pit.
GTA San Andreas.
tags, oysters, and horseshoes… and that’s not even counting pic locations or stunt jump locations.
literally the only reason I still haven’t played Breath of the Wild is I know me, and I don’t _want_ to hunt down a billion korok seeds…
i appreciate the saints row franchise, specifically 3 and 4 for this. there’s a point near the end game where you can level up enough that it just shows the remaining bullshit on the map
You know you don’t have to do collectables right?
I completed this one. I’ll never forget walking around throwing grenades into random apartment windows in order to kill a pigeon I could only hear hiding in one of them.
I was only able to get the pigeons after I installed a mod that would teleport you to all of their locations
I don’t do collectibles at all. It’s just busywork, not gameplay.
What really sucks is, this is the first and last time I ever did this type of thing. I actually collected them all. Never again.
No safe house loot spawns, no thank you.
RDR2 was a pain with all the Dreamcatchers, Exotics and the hunting quests. Still an amazing game and I’ve played through RDR2 four times and 100% it twice but yeah they were rough.
If I do go after collectibles I look up where they are after finding the first one. I am not going to be revisiting the same 200 locations 3 times to find everything.
Obligatory Batman Arkham City Riddler trophy comment
I really do mean to try and get these types of things done… but then i finish the main mission and try to do some of them, end up saying F*** it i’ve already beat the game and done like everything else, Do I really need to finish all the achievements? (kinda really want to but not really) I got like 20 other games I want to play
Me with the feathers in AC2. I got like 96 out of the hundo but never made a list of the ones I already hit. Ain’t tryin to revisit all locations to double check.
Yeah, any time I see this in a game, I either ignore it or immediately look for a guide online. Item collection is a stupid and annoying tactic to pad playtime. I’m currently playing Evoland 2 and it’s also pretty bad for this.
And any time I get the urge to play Skyrim, that mod that lets you easily find the crystals is a must.
Yeah I’ve never been a completionist because of insane missions like this
To add insult to injury they are also missables.
Skyrim for the 360 had a bug so you could never find the final Stone of Barenziah which meant you were stuck with heavy quest items clogging your inventory for all time. So not only did you waste all that effort, but you were punished forever for even trying.
One collectible I really enjoy is driving every road in Forza Horizon, you can subtly see your progress on the road map because the shade of the road color changes. Except there are usually 1 or 2 at the end that are hard to recognize as roads, sometimes they are like a 10′ stub off a main road.
Only collectables I ever enjoyed were the gargoyles from fable 2
No one wants to mention Korok seeds?
I think any game with these kinds of collectables need a counter for how many are in an area and a radar you can unlock post game. Kinda like in the old Spyro games where Sparx would point in the direction. Still has the fun of searching and collecting without the bullshit of trying to find that ONE you missed.
Nirnroot is easier than the fucking Stones of Barenziah, gah!
Reminds me of disassembly 3d
