To be fair, Cold Steel’s map is very segmented and constrained in its design, making it easier to iron out all the small details.
That being said, *it was a vita game*. I don’t think it should be controversial to say that switch should be capable of outputting better graphics than a decade old handheld console.
Agreeing on many technical issues and that they need to do better but pls look at the level size difference too..bet if you would zoom out that far with the same level size we would get something awful too
Because game companies know… For certain franchises …people will buy games no matter what they release. If you want change …don’t buy it
I’m old enough to remember the release of an 8-bit black-and-green game that competed against the likes of super Mario 64 and Tomb raider.
The younglings are shocked when graphics aren’t the primary concern of a pokemon game.
I have an idea, I’ll post a picture of the new pokemon game comparing it to another game with better graphics from either a smaller company or oldest release date.
I’m sure it’s a novel concept no one has thought before!
We are accepting laziness and the minimum effort
The screenshot above look like it has been taken from an emulator with added anti aliasing though, is that game really that non aliased on vita ?
Aside from that, the texturing on the game above is nice, on pokemon it look all flat with no details and that has nothing to do with optimization.
Oh my god what a neat idea for a post, it has never been done before and now everyone can keep repeating the point every second they get as if we haven’t heard anything like it
Look I think Pokémon should look better, but I don’t think comparing it to an entirely different game by a different developer on a different platform really means much.
Oh please. Stop with these. We already know Pokémon was a fiasco.
It’s not backwards, it’s “retro!”
– Pokemon, probably.
Sword and Shield was already a major disappointment for me so i am happy to have skipped this years release.
If it was just some smaller indie studio, but Pokemon is a huge franchise and there is no excuse to release such half baked garbage.
Can I introduce you to old school RuneScape
Look.. we get it. The graphics and rendering on the new Pokémon game suck. The circle jerk about it on this sub is getting out of hand.
Pokemon is made with such laziness because they know they are going sell it anyway and profit billions.
What an amazing thing that nobody has ever posted on this sub before!!!!
If the game is fun I could care less about how it looks.
Why Are people still stomping the shit outta this dead horse?
Be me. Company that only cares for profit.
Have IP.
Milk it.
Fanbase.
Milk them.
Put out half baked game.
Sells great.
Criticism? Send out the fanboys.
Start work immediately on the next half baked version.
This time, Pokemon in the design of a moist flatulent.
Stop buying unfinished games
Another day, another post complaining about pokemon.
Simple answer, the devs were given a fraction of the time needed for this project because they have to pump out games in a larger and larger scope on a yearly basis.
And because people keep paying fot that does the big shots making the calls keep it that way, this iteration of the franchise have made more money than any prior pokemon game, so from a business perspective its a massive success
And nothing is telling the big suits that maybe the bigger scope would warrant more time and more resources …. because everyone voted with their wallet that this is perfectly acceptable.
Not to spell doom and gloom, the trails franchise is amazing, but part of what makes it amazing is that it isn’t a yearly serialised rushed product.
Those are just my 5 cents on the matter, I’m more confused why anyone is surprised.
Nintendo had realized they don’t have to give a fuck anymore. People will buy it in droves just because it’s a Nintendo branded product. They can slap out half finished shit and still make bank.
To be honest, if a game company relases a new year every year, expect laziness pokemon one is of them cause people buy for title not what graphics are for sure
Because the game is part of a merchandise cycle and isn’t the main focus for Pokémon team. Dev team isn’t given enough time and have to get a new game to hit the deadline. Don’t think the games are even the biggest earner for the company.
Now show god of war and elden ring. Not everything is one to one. But i agree pokemon has regressed
I mean personally, I do see it as moving backwards, though comparing it to another game series entirely isn’t exactly fair comparison
Because you are still buying the games regardless
Long story short the pokemon brand is primarly owned and managed by pokemon co. Not primarily game freak, poke co sets a three year schedule for the video games to stay in sync with the card games and anime.
Game freak in that time has to push two games, which is why their games keep looking like this. As like they run on a very tight schedule, and have tonsplit their resources in half to maintain such.
If If you got see games like gta/btow and other open world games half way through into development you would have similar visual results.
“We” are not going backwards, Pokemon is. And it will continue to for as long as people keep buying the games.
