Sprites and tile sizes. I noticed that while programming my indie game. It still does not prevent one from making them proportionate. However traditionally in the overworld of top down 2d games, tiles are not quite proportionate. Maybe to indicate that you on the overworld as opposed to a level.
The overworld map and the different terrains and all the interactive objects on the map really are amazing.
Only old farts like me will truly underatand this image.
