Correct
I keep telling folks that GTA *is* my therapy, but no one believes me.
Violent video games cause violence in violent video games.
If only Genghis Khan put down the controller and picked up a scroll.
thank you, I now understand Charles Manson…
Awhile ago I was randomly matched in a 4×4 in Age Of Empires4 (strategy game) with 2 players in the other team having ZZ in their nickname. It was such a gratifying victory.
Blade & Sorcery is single handedly keeping thousands of people from becoming mass murderers
I hate everyone equally. Some more than others, however, because they’ve earned it.
This is the truth.
I think they just say it in order to divert the attention from the real cause.
Gotta get that stress out
Doom (1993) is always cathartic for me for this reason. I can just unload my stress and anxiety on the demons and I don’t need to put that much thought into it
Video games cause violence, but by all means air the government to subsidize and promote movies with military force as long as it looks cool.
the fun of retro fps and arena shooters
I go on GTA and find the person most similar to the person annoying me irl and just beat the shit out of em
I used to wanna kill people because I worked retail.

Not wanting to play through the evil storyline because it makes me feel bad.
Truth. Hard day at work and just own some demons in Doom.
Had a boss ask what I did on my weekend, I said I played a shooting game, he said he didn’t approve of playing video games because they are violent.
Then he went on to tell me that he went to his farm and shot a heap of birds.
I prefer my weekend
Anti-gaming people when you point out that violence existed before video games: 🤯
it’s true tho, Bush played tons of violent games that’s why he invaded Iraq
One of my professors was hardcore about the fact that violent video games make violent people. I never laughed so hard. I might have anger issues but it is because of dumb people not video games.
I am not a violent person. Having said that, being able to come in from a day of customers and bash the shit out of something in Diablo or God of War is incredibly satisfying.
Wanting to kill people in real life because of real life
*Videogames cause violence*
Me watering my crops in stardew valley so they grow in the next days: 😐
Or just… Not wanting to kill people even in video games. I love games, and used to go on mindless rampages in gta and stuff when i was a kid, but now when i watch other people play gta just to vent frustration and kill people and blow shit up i like… Kinda cringe a bit?
Like i don’t get it. I don’t dislike violence in games, i like the escapism of fighting monsters and stuff, because real life is complicated and it’s hard to really define someone as evil and deserving of death usually, but in some games réality is simple, you’re the hero and your enemies are evil mindless creatures, everything is black and white. Or survival games, where you must defend yourself to survive.
Idk I’ll probably get downvoted for it, i don’t think video games CAUSE violence, but i do think if you’re an adult who’s been playing games long enough to get over the novelty that is being able to be evil or commit murder in games, and you still play shit like gta or postal to go on virtual mindless murder sprees on a regular basis to vent stress, that it’s at least a red flag or sign that you MAYBE have some serious issues that the games are exposing, not causing, and should maybe seek help, because immersing yourself in a murderhobo spree against helpless random people isn’t something most mentally stable people do for fun or stress relief.
That said there are exceptions to every rule and idk what’s really going on in most people’s heads.
Ah yes, the male fantasy /s
If only the crusaders stopped playing doom !
Why not both?
Sometimes when I’m really stressed I just play against bots in COD4
Lol
Facts. If I had a bad day at work once upon a time, you wouldn’t want to live in Riften, I’ll tell you that much. Everyone dies
This is low effort and cringe.
I’d say video games PREVENT violence.
People commit violence in video games because that’s generally the only way to interact with the in-game world.
These violent delights *do not* have violent ends.
When I have a bad day, everyone in Los Santos has a bad day. *I’m NOT a griefer! Only NPCs*
This meme is so fucking stupid.
Video games don’t cause individuals to be violent.
However there is a decent amount of research indicating that violent visual media (movies, TV, video games) causes people to be more okay with other people being violent. People who play violent games are on average more likely to support wars, less likely to be concerned about police brutality towards minorities, and more indifferent towards domestic violence. There’s even an observed effect that police officers are less likely to face prosecution if they shoot people in the head due to the association that video games cause that “headshot=competent, so if the officer is competent, he must have been justified” when the reality is that shooting people in the head is tactically ineffective and needlessly brutal.
Video games won’t cause you to be violent, but they might make you more okay with a violent society.
These violent delights have violent ends.
Nothing feels as good as some Doom after a though day.
