Make 7 up yours
I remember this one.
I remember this one. Gave me a chuckle when I saw it, but always made me think there’s gonna be a good portion of society that’s not gonna find the sarcasm humorous in it. That it kind of disappeared as quickly as it appeared reaffirmed that for me.
Ha ha! Prison rape.
How did you find it, if you don’t mind me asking?
Yo! Is that Godfrey?
Wow…that was…horrific?
That would not be socially acceptable now lol
I don’t really remember this one specifically but I do remember 7-up had a huge ad campaign going on at the time.
Does anyone even drink that stuff? It’s like the most boring lemon-lime soda there is. Sprite has some bite to it. Fresca has the interesting super-carbonated feeling. Squirt kinda combines elements of both with more flavor. And of course there’s the nuclear option of Mountain Dew, and also in that era, Surge.
I guess some people just prefer a smoother soda, like Pepsi over CocaCola or Fanta over Sunkist, but I’ve never met anyone who actually seeks out 7-up.
My favorite one from that era was the “blind taste test”. The contestant drinks from the first glass – pretty good. Contestant drinks from second glass, spews “this tastes like dish water!” 7-up spokesman flips up the signs, revealing that one is 7-Up and the other one is in fact, dishwater. “See? 7-Up tastes better!”
Not exactly a ringing endorsement.

Godfrey! My man’s killed it
I was thinking about this commercial the other day! Another one that I used to think was hilarious, but now feels like I didn’t actually see it… it was when razors were going to more and more blades, and one company was mocking them with the “Quadratrippio” (I think) and it had like 40 blades!!! It was funny as heck to me, but now I feel like I made it all up, or maybe it was part of a sketch comedy show.
Speaking of commercials no one seems to remember, does anyone remember Channing Tatum’s Mountain Dew commercial from around this same time?

Take 7 up yours.
Prison rape jokes. Classy.
[Bad Boys with Sean Penn](https://youtu.be/J_q9Hk44cxg) showing what soda cans in jail are used for.
That’s gold! Thank you!!!
They need to bring back Fido Dido and his scientology campaign “it’s cool to be clear”.
I don’t remember this commercial, but I remember when this comedian, “godfrey” I believe his name is, got the job. It was a big break for him. Hope he is still doing well
This didn’t age well.
Low-key best joke is the guy making a blackjack.
“Hiding it from your roommate? That’s not nice!”
really fucked up
Just imagine what prisoners could do with aluminum cans
7up and prison rape, what a classic combination
There are so many garbage commercials these days it’s really nice to see an add agency actually earn their money. I respect a good commercial.
I remember this 7-Up commercial with Orlando Jones https://youtu.be/z2o9vQwcDa8
