I’m sure you wouldn’t want to tangle with one of those. Pretty cool find.
Looks like he is wrangling a giant earthworm.
How old do you think actually is? What a find! Awesome!
It is fossilized in to….copper!! Recycle that shit!!

Makes for a good backscratcher.
This pic looks unbelievable. Has the tusk been sticking out of the ground like this for that long?
Absolutely wild that humans used to hunt those things
Unearthed isn’t the word. More like blasted with a fire hose. They blast river water into soil to spray away the mud to find these. The silt runs into the water and chokes out life, killing the river and its ecosystem. Its incredibly damaging.
There’s an [amazing report by Amos Chapple](https://www.rferl.org/a/the-mammoth-pirates/27939865.html) on how these are mined. Well worth reading and the pictures are brilliant
We’re all just going to accept that this is a “riverbed”? Ok, just wanted to check.
The 30.000 year old prehistoric virus hibernating within its body:
Looks like the riverbed is very happy to see you
I’m surprised at how thin it is relative to its length. I would think that would break relatively easily in a fight
And science wants to bring those back?!
