Give me the Blue Skies era! Just one more time.
But I find it hard to talk about the “fall” any of these cable channels. USA, TBS, TNT, it’s all really the same; people turned to streaming and the parent companies slashed budgets, eliminated original programming, and turned them into sports overflow channels. Pretty much AMC is the only non-premium cable channel investing in new content for the sake of the actual channel (FXX and Freeform still do too but pretty much as a Hulu feeder system)
The Blue Sky Era was solid for entertaining shows that kept it light. It was like comfort food.
Bring back Commander USA’s Groovy Movies!
As someone who was a teenager in the 90’s, USA will always be associated with *Up All Night*. I remember watching those late night movies, hoping for a glimpse of basic cable T&A.
They peaked with Mr. Robot
I recently started watching ‘Suits’, and am very happy the USA network put that show out. I’m loving the show so far.
Colony was underrated
Their transition from the Blue Skies era didn’t work out too well for them. I think it is a cautionary tale that once you build a brand, you may be better off sticking to that brand.
