    Spoilers for the final episode

    >!I loved how not everyone gets closure. Sasha never gets to meet Percy and Braddock again to apologize and make amends. Marcy didn’t get to form close bonds to anyone aside from Andrias (who betrayed and used her, and then injured and made her into a meat puppet for his master), and regrets not doing so now that there’s no time left for her to try. Andrias doesn’t get any forgiveness in the end, he has to live with the consequences of his actions while being despised by everyone and slowly rotting away, with only the remainders of his broken past friendships by his side.!<

    >!I also really like the choice of having Anne actually die from her sacrifice and then getting ‘revived’ in the form of a copy. I know it’s a controversial aspect of the ending, but the fact that the character we got to know for three seasons is actually gone is pretty incredible, especially for a kids show. The clone thing is still pretty ambiguous though, so people who find the implications disturbing might choose the soul transfer explanation instead.!<

    Gravity Falls ending spoilers:

    >!In any case, I think this approach is much more fulfilling and meaningful than Stan’s memory getting wiped, but miraculously being restored after a couple hours of reading a scrapbook. In the end, Stan is back as he was before, while Anne, even though her appearance, memories and personality are preserved through a copy of herself, is no more.!<

    >!Then there’s the fact that the worlds get permanently separated in the end. It’s heartbreaking and many fans actually despise it, but it fits with the themes of the story, of change and not forgetting the people you love no matter how far in space or time they are. Many think Terri’s portal might be the key to reconnect the worlds, and Matt himself suggested something might be happening in Marcy’s book, but I think the fact that the portal immediately closed off after Anne went through implies that, without the power of the stones, it’s impossible for it to operate, no matter the amount of energy used. Maybe they should have put a line clarifying it in the episode, but it’s not a super important detail.!<
