Beautiful trailer. It’s between this and Babylon at the Oscars
Wow, can’t wait for this.
Also – 1:39 – he already had the D-Day scene in mind lol.
So it’s an autobiographical movie about Spielberg.
This movie is going to make me cry, I can feel it in my bones.
In theaters November 11th:
>Growing up in post-World War II era Arizona, from age seven to eighteen, a young man named Sammy Fabelman discovers a shattering family secret and explores how the power of films can help him see the truth.
The reactions to this at the Toronto Film Festival were very very positive. It could be the Oscar frontrunner
Something about watching this young kid crafting his own crazy productions is giving me Rushmore vibes.
***”NOOOOO! Ooooh, this is NOT how this was supposed to go! Aaaaaaaaaaaaggggh, I had it ALL PLANNED OUT!”***
-Sammy’s dad, when his kid tops the box office with a dumb >!orca!< movie where the bad guy doesn’t even *work* half the time, 75, colorized.
>!Can’t wait for this! Definitely seems like his most personal work in a long, long time.!<
But where is David Lynch?
That kids eyes are insanely blue
Judd Hirsch, bringing some much-needed Judaism to this movie.
At 1:09, it’s Cheese from Reservation Dogs! Ayeee
Was any of it actually filmed in AZ?
Sam Mendes picking the wrong year to make his Oscar movie about movies film
So Spielberg avoided putting some of his own stuff in Ready Player One so he wouldn’t be seen as stroking himself off but then goes and makes an entire movie about himself? OK.
Welp, guess we can slot this one into the Best Picture noms
I can tell this is going to break me. Spielberg has been my favorite director for 20 years, and I’ve read a multitude of biographies. And seeing how much his father issues has come up in previous films (The Last Crusade, E.T. the Extra Terrestrial, Close Encounters of the Third Kind), it’ll be so much more visceral seeing his father issues in a true autobiographical sense.
Also Paul Dano, Michelle Williams, and Seth Rogen in a dramatic role (such as Steve Jobs) is such a winning combo.
Tear jerk bait
This movie is definitely going to make me cry. I grew up loving Steven Spielberg’s movies. Watching this trailer made me feel nostalgic. It reminds me of wanting to make movies when I was growing up and using my family’s home video camera to make little short films with my friends and cousins.
Corny
Young ~~Spielberg~~ Fabelman don’t pop a balloon next to that monkey oh god oh fuck
this shit is Oscar bait.
comments: ooh ah Oscar
🙄
I don’t care if it’s Oscar bait, Spielberg has been mid at worst in recent years and this looks like something he’s incredibly passionate about. I can’t wait to watch this and cry in the theater.
I’ll check it out but Mendes seems to interest me more with his movie. Maybe it’s Deakins andthe Trent and Atticus score.
I fear this is gonna be his final film, and it makes me so sad, we don’t deserve him, not after nobody went to see West Side Story (a freaking masterpiece).
Hopefully is not his final film, but in the meantime, looking forward to go to the theater and see one of the best filmakers of all time.
Steven Spielberg’s Boyhood
Both this and Clerks 3 are semi-autobiographical films about wanting to make movies. I wonder which one will pick up more Oscar nominations
The “Please don’t call it a hobby” line brought up feelings I didn’t know I had
Imagine making a movie about yourself
Saw this last night at TIFF. Best Late Career Spielberg for sure. Wonderful, stirring movie.
His last collaboration with John Williams
Looks super charming and warm, definitely a personal passion project for Steven Spielberg and the protagonist is based on Spielberg himself as a child after all. Michelle Williams is shaping up to be a major force for Best Supporting Actress in here.
Looks like a deeply personal film, in the same vein as Empire of the Sun. Definitely looking forward to it and another emotional score from John Williams.
The Fabelmans aka The Spielbergs
