The Awfulness of Bear’s Bank

I haven’t been religiously watching Game Day this season, but tuned in and saw Bear’s record for gambling picks was 17-18-1. His segments are never enjoyable/amusing, he’s unlikable, and he doesn’t appear to be good at his job. I wonder the politics behind him on the program. Does anyone chart his overall record on the show? There’s been lots of stories lately about the insidiousness of the networks pushing gambling but it feels like no one ever brings him up.

Does his record even matter? Right or wrong, he drives the gamblers to the the sites. That’s all ESPN cares about now. Quality broadcasting and journalism went out the window years ago.

You forgot one thing, he’s also ugly as fuck. The Bear and Stanford Steve are birds of an ugly, unlikable, boring, degenerate feather.

I believe most of his involvement is that Herbie just really likes the dude and he helps Herbie with prep for the show, Herbie’s college game, and Herbie’s nfl game. I know he is flying around with Herbie for all of them.

I think as a “thanks for giving me all this help for so long” he got his own quick segment of just being some dude picking what he likes vs the spread.

I don’t know, Bear is kind of harmless tbh. He’s been doing that segment for years, I know he’s like a researcher and helps Herbie with his stuff. I’ve been watching Gameday since I moved to the US, like 10 years now and I love having it on in the background. Personally, I learned about how the spread works from Bears segment.

People tend to rag on him, on the sob stories but that’s all part of Gameday.
