Stargate SG-1 might be my favourite example of a show using their main theme throughout the show and not just in the titles. I always loved how the show would either use a somber or joyful variation depending on the episode’s ending

Then there’s the scene where Carter breaks the fourth wall and hums the theme song in the elevator. I love moments like that.
Also, I believe the phrase OP is looking for is “motif” (when certain music is used throughout the episode for specific characters or events). The Batman motif in the DCAU is one of my all-time favorites, [especially when used in Batman Beyond](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QqRATvE-gXo)

I picked up on this a lot in Only Murders in the Building. Which is great, because I love it’s main theme.
Still love this show! And to this day I’m still amazed at how they got a decent amount of Air Force mannerisms right.
I’m actually re-watching the entire series now and notices this as well. Just getting season 3
Meh.
Wormhole X-treme is better.
I saw a stand up comic that had a keyboard and his hook was that he could play tv theme songs. But not the opening songs, the mood songs like that.
He could too. Remember the sad Brady Bunch song? Stuff like that.
Bruh, why would you post the last scene of this epic show and spoil it for people with no warning?
timeless show cant wait right til amazon shows that they are going to do with the ip
Motif’s are great for developing the identity of characters or story.
Joel Goldsmith, son of critically acclaimed composer, Jerry Goldsmith, worked throughout the entire franchise for Stargate on TV. From SG-1 to Universe.
For the pilot episode, the movie composer, David Arnold, helped collaborate with Joel Goldsmith over themes for the show. As more races were introduced, Goldsmith started creating new themes to expand the Stargate musical universe.
I really love the score to Atlantis, because, by then, Goldsmith is on his own and creating much more for the show than relying on previous work. Atlantis had used a live symphonic orchestra instead of using synthesized music like SG-1 had done.
SG-1 still has a lot of great music. But, I truly love Atlantis more.
Just like The Price is Right.
In the episode, “It’s Good To Be King”, they’re playing something very purposely close to the MacGyver theme (without having to pay for actually licensing it). Jack asks them to stop because they’re “torturing that dirty”.

One of my favorite shows ever! I had no idea there were so many brethren about! I’m basically a sci-fi junkie.
I mean, that was pretty common back then. Cheers had a happy theme song and a sad version for the end credits. Same with MASH.
My fiancé did a full watch thru of I dream of Jeanie this past year and they use nothing but the main theme as the music for the show. They speed it up, slow it down, change pitch etc etc but I don’t remember hearing any other song lol
