I am wearing glasses hence I am smart here.
Synopsis:
>Two inmates form a connection while grappling with their pasts in a state-of-the-art penitentiary run by a brilliant visionary who experiments on his subjects with mind-altering drugs.
Starring Chris Hemsworth, Miles Teller, and Jurnee Smollett. Directed by Joseph Kosinski (Top Gun: Maverick, Tron: Legacy). Based on The New Yorker short story, “Escape From Spiderhead,” by George Saunders.
Seems like it’s going for Ex-Machina vibes, which isn’t a HORRIBLE movie to borrow from.
Also Netflix’s Maniac, which is underrated.
reminds me of Bad Times at the El Royale to some degree
Something to put his black hat on
Even after seeing the title I didn’t expect this to actually be based on the Saunders story! Never would’ve imagined this happening, much less on Netflix!
looks fun. its directed by joseph kosinski and he is yet to make a bad movie. shot by claudio miranda so you know it will look good, and hemsworth is always pretty good when cast against type.
[Here’s the short story this is based on](https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2010/12/20/escape-from-spiderhead). It’s a pretty good read.
Two Kosinksi movies coming within 1 month… nice
Totally forgot about this one. Netflix is really good at not getting me excited for their releases.
looks boring
Not sure why, but I love the spelling of Jurnee’s name.
Great cast. I am feeling optimistic. One thing I do actually love about netflix is how quickly movies come out after their trailers.
Hemsworth with an American accent playing a villain and being directed by Joseph Koisinski? Sold.
I just dont think Chris Hemsworth is a good actor
Why is Jurnee Smollett in this movie after the stuff her brother pulled? Skip!
Cut off her face to spiderhead.
Looks interesting. I’m very curious as to why Miles Teller’s character is getting to sit in on other people’s sessions as an inmate.
ugh why do they keep casting miles teller
Glad Kosinksi is back with something somewhat sci fi. His style shines brighter through that genre.
Why the hell can’t Hemsworth’s character just be Australian? Don’t know why he has to force an accent for this. Same problem I had with him in Blackhat. Just let the guy be a good actor.
The trailer music makes me want to play [Katamari Damacy](https://youtu.be/iMH49ieL4es?t=48).
Good accent on Chris there.
I feel like Hemsworth has struggled a bit outside Marvel – he seemed poised to be a big leading actor, but neither him nor Hiddleston really took off like it appeared they would. Perhaps this will change that for him, I do think he’s improving as an actor
hemmy finally aiming for the head.
This looks excellent!
No one’s going to talk about the drinking sound at 1:45 that is clearly the exact drinking audio from Space Station 13? Or have I just played too much Space Station 13?
