Hey everyone. I wanted to share the story behind our upcoming game, Speed Crew. Inspired by Overcooked, Moving Out, and other party games, we wanted to create a game that was fun, spontaneous, and sometimes crazy. The idea to operate as a pit stop crew immediately clicked within the team, and for the last year, we have been working on this project.
With the prototype and proof of concept, we wanted to ensure that the game would be fun, fresh, and exciting throughout the campaign so the gameplay would engage the players for hours, not minutes. We’ve approached variation in three ways: different car issues, ranging tools with various mechanics, and unique level design that doesn’t get stale.
We’ve carefully balanced progression to keep things interesting with 48 levels. Our top priority was quality gameplay. To achieve that, we’ve been holding dozens of playtest sessions with players (who are not part of the dev team) from different backgrounds and skill levels. During playtests, we observed the players rather than assisting with explanations or providing hints. This helped us to see how smooth the gameplay was, what worked with players, and what didn’t. Based on feedback from our playtesters, we’ve made many changes to the game, from killing off uninteresting or repetitive mechanics to developing new features to add more to the game. We’ve also simplified many control decisions to make them even more accessible.

We even have a campaign with a humorous story and fully voiced animated story cinematics.
With local and online multiplayer, you can play with up to 4 players, and we plan to have the online play cross-platform when other platform versions release later this year. The launch of Speed Crew is scheduled on Nintendo Switch on June 6th.
