I’ve been waiting for it to come to my town. But I think it’s too small of a film, unfortunately. The wife and I were really looking forward to it; Inglorious Bastards meets John Wick. Looks like so much fun.

This is a great movie. So glad it’s getting released outside of Finland. If you have eyes, watch it!!

Finnish prospector/Rambo via Quintin Tarantino vs Nazis. Leave your brain at the door and enjoy the fuck out of this!

So this looks fun and I always enjoy a movie about someone fucking up fascist Nazi assholes.

But I think I’ve reached a point where my interest/entertainment derived from anything set in WW2 has totally just…Fizzled. It’s not even that there’s been some recent spike of oversaturation either. There’s just been so much media set in WW2 that I can’t help but find the stylings, trappings and set pieces to be so dull

I’m not much for violence, but right now, seeing a movie about one lone Finn going all Rambo on a bunch of Nazis sounds really cathartic.

I saw this last week. I unfortunately really can’t recommend it.

It’s a hodgepodge of things that were done better in other movies. The action is just dumb. The protagonist survives simply because in almost every scene, the nazis just straight up choose not to kill him. They just stand there pointing their guns at him while he stabs them all one by one and then runs away in plain sight while they shoot in the air around him. Basically every “action” scene goes like that. The nazis stand still while he kills them one by one. The end.

The trailers try to make it out to be John Wick meets Inglorious Basterds meets Fury Road. But in reality it misses the mark on what made any of those movies good. It’s John Wick without the well choreographed, innovative action. It’s Inglorious Basterds without a single memorable line or compelling character. It’s Fury Road without the cool stunts and visual effects.

There is not a single thing about this movie that wasn’t already done better somewhere else.

Feel like I’m the only one that’s kind of over this style of film. Just feels repetitive with John Wick having its moment for the past decade but I guess that’s the point.

WARNING: don’t watch the trailers if you want a better viewing experience. They give away too much action in the trailers.

It really killed it for me how lazy they were using a T-55 as a WWII German tank. You didn’t even have to use an expensive rental like a Tiger, you could use a cheap working T-34 that you repainted as a Finnish or German capture, totally believable. They couldn’t even be bothered to take the Cold War era machine gun off the tank, there are very cheap MG3s available that could have been mounted or just take it off the tank.
