The Thin Man film series with William Powell and Myrna Loy are my favorite non Sherlock Holmes detective movies I enjoy all 6 of them

The Thin Man is the oldest movie that I can recommend to a modern audience as just being a good movie. You don’t watch it for nostalgia or for history. It is just a good movie.

That’s a good one but my favorite is After The Thin man because of Nora’s Gothy family home and crazy relatives. When the men are having apres dinner smokes, Nick gets in some really funny lines.

**Nora Charles:** “I read where you were shot 5 times in the tabloids.”

**Nick Charles** “It’s not true. He didn’t come anywhere near my tabloids.”

The best thing about the Thin Man movies that isn’t the movies’ stars, is the mystery structure and how hilarious it is.

Act 1: Nick and Nora drink and enjoy her wealth, someone is murdered.
Act 2: Red herrings so nearly anyone in the movie could be the killer.
Act 3: Nick and Nora learn everything and just throw up their hands. “Who did it?” “Beats me.” So they get them all a room together surrounded by cops so all the potential killers expose each others’ lies until the killer is exposed.

    So much fun.
