Sweet, it’s been ages since I saw a good Italian film.
These two together again! I’m in!
> Set during the Irish Civil War in 1923 on the fictional island of Inisherin, ***the events of the film begin when **Gleeson’s Colm** seemingly cuts off **Farrell’s Pádraic** with minimal explanation, setting off an interpersonal dance between the two former friends.***
> The upcoming film will mark the ***reunion of the three Irish creatives,*** who first worked together on the 2008 black comedy “In Bruges.” That film chronicled Farrell and Gleeson as two hitmen forced to go into hiding in Bruges, Belgium, away from their enraged boss, played by English actor Ralph Fiennes. Outside of 2017’s “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri,” McDonagh’s film efforts have included either Gleeson or Farrell, but “The Banshees of Inisherin” is the trio’s second collective collaboration.
October 21st, 2022 is the current release date
I see Martin McDonagh, I watch the movie.
Barry Keoghan is in it too.
Is this the most Irish movie ever?
I swear they purposely don’t match the names and actors
They’re back, baby!
Something tells me this will not have a happy ending.
I’m not being funny, we can’t stay here.
don’t know why but I just got shivers, no way this isn’t a banger
The trailer was incredible. I loved In Bruges and Three Billboards, there’s a great chance that this will be spectacular.
What a welcome surprise this morning. I wasn’t aware of this movie.
Fun fact Inisherin is a made up island for the movie, but is also the Irish for “Irish Island”
Good dog
Fun fact: I believe this script was conceptualized way back in the 90s when McDonagh was doing a lot more playwriting (I just saw his most recent play, Hangmen, on Broadway, it was hilariously dark.)
I think it was supposed to be part of a trilogy of plays about small Irish towns during certain time periods (he wrote two play trilogies like that). However for this one, he had said he never finished it because he couldn’t figure out how to make it work on stage, the way he wanted, I believe.
This is all from the recesses of my brain, but suffice to say, I’ve been a huge fan of McDonagh plays since college [2010] and the giant theatre nerd in me is uniquely hype for this one in particular. (Seven Psychopaths being my favorite film of his).
They finally returned from Bruges, I see.
I have been starved of more Martin and these two together since In Bruges.
My body is ready. I missed Dune in the cinemas due to Covid restrictions. I am NOT missing this one due to economic collapse in my country…..
Hell yes
The trailer is incredible as well: https://youtu.be/BqQ8mM48RJI.
Can’t wait. In Bruges is one of my favorite films
“They’re filming midgets!!!”
I really like In Bruges, enjoyed Seven Psychopaths and really didn’t like 3 billboards. Hoping this one is good!
It’s like a fuckin fairy tale!
Obviously Farrell and Gleeson reunited is fantastic but it’s also great to see Barry Keoghan. He’s one of those actors who always stands out in stacked casts. Plus, he and Farrell were great opposite each in The Killing of a Sacred Deer.

You can always tell the movies that are going to get you right in the feelies.
If anyone loves Brendan Gleeson please check out the criminally underrated Mr. Mercedes. You might have to sail the high seas to watch it. It’s three seasons and its phenomenal.
In Bruges is probably one of my favorite comedies and this team working together again makes me excited.
“Harry. I mean no disrespect, but you’re a cunt. You’re a cunt now, and you’ve always been a cunt. And the only thing that’s going to change is that you’re going to be an even bigger cunt. Maybe have some more cunt kids.“
That exchange always kill me.
“Everything Was Fine Yesterday”
Man, that is a hell of a tag line.
Will it have alcoves?
If I grew up on a farm, and was retarded, this movie might impress me. But I didn’t, so it doesn’t.
Anyone recognize the beach they’re standing on? Always curious about filming locations. Do you think it was shot in Ireland?
Amazing, I can’t wait. McDonagh is one of the best screenwriters in the world
THANK YOU! This is my kind of cinema! Movies like In Bruges or Three Billboards are the types to breath life back into cinema
