It’s out April 14 on Showtime:
>PERSONALITY CRISIS: ONE NIGHT ONLY tells the definitive story of the culture-defying David Johansen, notorious ’70s glam punk lead singer of the New York Dolls. Framed around an intimate cabaret performance filmed in January 2020 at New York City’s storied Café Carlyle, PERSONALITY CRISIS: ONE NIGHT ONLY reveals Johansen’s enormous influence, transcending the walls of music as a window into the art and cultural evolution of New York City.
Is that not Buster Poindexter?
He just made a documentary while editing Killers of Flowermoon?
I love how Marty’s never stopped being interested in rock documentaries, no matter how busy he is with his features, and it’s even cooler to see him make one about an influential and under-appreciated figure like Johansen instead of the usual names that have been covered a million times (Dylan, the Stones, etc). Definitely going to check this one out
No doubt this will be Hot, Hot, Hot.
Get it while it was hot
It’s sad that directors like this man are only appreciated on the streaming market now.
Johnny Thunders is one of my guitar heroes. Love the Dolls.
Loe the New York Dolls!!!
Saw this at NYFF with Scorsese and Johansen introducing it. It was a little too long for me but it’s still a fun time and Johansen is super interesting.
Ok so Scorsese is ok with streaming now? Lmfao what a fucktard
David Johansen as in the lead singer for the New York Dolls? I am so in for this.
Looks like what Joker 2019 would’ve been if Martin stayed on and never left. At least judging by the poster.
Oh man here’s me thinking wow that kid looks like the guy from Scrooge and Car 54. Totally not knowing that that guy had a whole career as a musician. Crazy.
