Isn’t it odd how Lou Gehrig died of Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Some coincidence 🤷🏻♂️
That’s either right before, during, or right after one of the best seasons in baseball history. One of just a handful of players to win an all-MLB Triple Crown. 1934. The legend.
Why your dad of all people?
Wait? Is Lou Gehrig your grandfather?
Was your dad named Dobby as those are the ears of a house elf.
He may have been given a bad break… but he had an awful lot to live for.
Can we play a game of questions to determine your grandfather?!
Ryan Stiles?
I honestly wonder what he would have thought about the ice bucket challenge.
Damn. He’d only live another 7 years. So incredibly sad.
I have colorized baby pictures, too! Oh, and the obligatory brass baby shoes, too.
Gram’s rocking the Beauxbatons hat.
Might just be me, but your dad looks like a tiny baby version of John Candy. A compliment in my books, he rocked. Great pic OP
What a cool pic! I love old photos like this. He was something else. I admired Lou Gehrig. Thanks for sharing.
Dude, your dad was an absolute unit for a one year old.
Does he have quite an association with Carol Burnett (also born in ’33)?
By the way, my dad was born in ’34, also Silent Generation.
Edit: Never mind, it was grandpa who was the famous one. I was thinking the kid was Ken Berry.
Looks like they are posing for a Norman Rockwell painting.
Is your grandfather Ty Cobb or Shoeless Joe Jackson?
What a treasure and he was an amazingly strong and good man that this would sure could use more of.
He passed well before I was born but I loved going to the library and reading about him and the other amazing athletes of his time and I modeled my own baseball playing style as close to his as I could.
The movie about his life is still a real tear jerker!
Thanks for sharing!

Huh, I didn’t know those hats existed outside of Harry Potter.
Not as awkward as “Lou Gehrig” cuddling my dad” makes it seem.
LG was so handsome
There’s a video of Lou taking batting practice and you can get a sense of his tremendous power. So amazing that these guys were so strong before the days of trainers and (legal) supplements.
How did they get their hair wavy like his?
