Update it went through
what a cool find! enjoy the games
I’m pretty sure it just downloads a digital version to emulate and uses the disc as a verification key, essentially. You should be golden
360 and original Xbox games don’t actually pull data from the disc on Xbox One/Series, it just triggers a download. Likely because they actually put work into these games, they’re almost more like a remaster in some ways (especially the ones with higher rez/fps.)
It’s actually handy in some situations like the one you’re in. If a game is too scratched up to actually work on the original console (where it does pull data from the disc) it can actually still work on the One/Series, the console just needs to be able to read the disc long enough to tell what the game is.
I actually have a good chunk of random games I’ve gotten at yard sales over the years that won’t work on my 360 but got a second chance thanks to this.
God, I’d love to play Orange Box TF2.
Which console are you playing on ?
Time to break out the toothpaste
I remeber when my Disney+ disk got scratched. I disowned my child and immediately got a divorce.
Its such a good thing that modern consoles just need to recognise the disc and it can download online. Makes a good amount of damaged discs I have playable again
If there’s one thing the XBOX does well, its this old disc reading magic. What a fucking incredible shame Playstation won’t do this for… whatever stupid ass reasons. Absolute legendary feature.
Use the peanut butter trick.
If it didn’t work, you can buy it from the website storefront before it’s delisted and it will be in your xbox library.
