Nice. Feels like maybe this is how people will watch it after the collapse of civilization
Well, all the JJ Abrams ones were already low quality.
How can I get this on a digital picture frame so I can send it to my friend?
Reminds me of the bootleg Phantom Menace on CD-ROM my uncle gave me before the movie was released.
Dang, this reminds of trying to watch anything on a crappy web browser circa 2002.
RealPlayer vibes
We can go deeper
This really took me back to watching movies on dodgy streaming sites back in the mid to late 2000s… The quality wasn’t quite this bad but I’m sure it wasn’t that much better.
Welcome to downloading any movie in 1998
C360p0
So I could literally play this on a Nintendo 64?
Can’t wait to see this reposted tomorrow with even lower quality.
It’s an older Codec, sir, but it checks out.
Now I just need to see AI upscale it
The awful tinny Fox fanfare is a harbinger of the awful compression yet to come.
[And I compress it even further…](https://www.asciimation.co.nz/)
Did you use middle out compression?
Now use AI upscaling to full HD, and repeat twice.
Surprisingliy good quality for beeing compressed to 61 mb!
But yeah, really interrested about this upscale trick
Reminds me of trying to watch 10MB Dragonball GT episodes in Realplayer.
should’ve used h265
I’m surprised Disney hasn’t nuked this already.
Okay, who has the entire Shrek movie gif?
Reminds me of the cut-scenes in the old games like x-wing and rebel assault.
This is what streaming video was like on dial up late 90s and early 2000s
Now someone use AI to upscale it to HD
Back in 2002, I had a Sony P800, and I would compress movies at 280×160 resolution, and 8-15fps, 8-20kb/s depending on the movie.
I could get 2 full movies on a single 128mb memory card, and at the time it was the best thing ever.
For reference, encoding the movie Predator from a DVD down to a 50mb file took almost 2 days on my old AMD K6-2 300mhz processor.
This brought back memories.
My childhood days of watching scrambled porn on satellite has prepared me to be able to watch this movie in full mental fidelity.
Honestly with modern codecs I’d have expected this to look better.
This is like how I watched the Star Wars Holiday Special in the old days when it was still largely inaccessible online.
Welcome to watching porn on 56k in the 90s.
