I’m often relying on Reddit when doing research on games, but there are many repetitive questions and recommendations here. That’s why I built a bot based on over 100k comments and posts from this subreddit to embody the collective knowledge of Reddit game community.
Some recent posts that I tried to answer with the bot:
* [what are some good horror games to start with on xbox?](https://www.looria.com/bot/games?q=what+are+some+good+horror+games+to+start+with+on+xbox%3F)
* [looking for a large, long, epic story rpg, high fantasy](https://www.looria.com/bot/games?q=looking+for+a+large%2C+long%2C+epic+story+rpg%2C+high+fantasy)
* [sib resident evil 2 remake?](https://www.looria.com/bot/games?q=sib+resident+evil+2+remake%3F)
It’s far from perfect and comes with limitations:
* Outdated information: I’ll try to improve this by factoring in recency of the posts and comments. I also want to add more statistical significance to the results, e.g. by clustering suggested games and platforms.
* Hallucination: As always with these bots, they sometimes make things up. More training data should help here.
* Performance: Generating the answers is pretty slow and I’ll look into improving this.
Take it with a grain of salt and look at it as a fun experiment 🙂 Would love to hear your feedback!
Can I request a feature where it finally convinces me to play all those steam games I bought on sale 3+ years ago?
I like the concept! That said, I asked what I should play after Tactics Ogre Reborn and Fire Emblem was not one of the options. Either the bot or reddit has failed.
Username checks out. This is a cool idea, hope it gains traction.
Imagine adding a system like ChatGPT to dialogues in videogames.
This is actually one of the best uses I have seen for this. If it’s capable of parsing comments down to one positive or negative opinion per account and outputting information that there is something like perhaps an 80/20 split in favor of one game being good, for a random made-up example, that would be really cool to see.
The problem would be that a company could easily just run bots to astroturf comments if it ever caught on. Outside of that though, I would trust that number more than a Metacritic user score.
I bought a game based on this website.
To people looking to fund OP : this is a good fucking idea.
Just another example that all our comments are only just feeding the linear algebra and screaming into the void accomplished nothing.
You know I actually tried to read comment no 8.652 in a reddit post or heck in a youtube comment section and seems that’s impossible since all this engagement accomplishes is leaving data for the language model….
Hey did you know that the masterchief collection on steam supports steam workshop mods? Because nobody fuckin told me and it’s kinda incredible
Its not working
“A game like Oblivion that has been highly recommended in the comments is The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion itself…”
Truly a masterpiece:)
Great job though, very cool project
Cool! Asked it for games with a similar vibe to Cities: Skylines and it provided some good answers, even small titles I’ve never heard of. My favourite is the description of Tropico though haha
>Tropico 6: A city-building game with a different take on the genre, where you run a farm in a tropical setting.
