Since there was discussion here over Johnny Cash version of this song which is way more over than the original one, I decided to take listen and only one minor alteration of lyric and BG makes it way different than Cash’s take.
I remember hearing, when Reznor heard Cash’s version. He said “well, that’s his song now”
I saw this tour. It remains my number one concert experience. This number was the transition between the two sets. Both sets were incredible multimedia experiences, with projections and sculpture.
I worked my way up to the stage for both performances.
The particular concert I saw, Bowie was wearing a white tee shirt. From the audience’s point of view, Trent was on one side of the stage lit by a spotlight. When the duet began, another spotlight came up on Bowie on the opposite end of the stage. I remember the performance differently than this video.
If I recall, Trent had some sort of keyboard that was mounted on a spring arm of sorts. He could move it around the stage, and he would hit chords so hard the keyboard would be thrown to the ground and then rebound back up to his hands like a basketball.
1995 Hershey Park Stadium. Would be interested to see if anyone else remembers it as I do. Wonder how much is misremembered towards epic glory. 😀
The keyboardist from Slam Bamboo?
Benefit is the doubt that OP knows it’s Reznor’s song but this title makes it seem like they don’t.
