It was all going smoothly until they hired Lucy and Ethel.

You are correct! These ladies screwed it up!
That’s right. They still taste like they had been made in 1935.
Man, what a job. Automation saved these people and their wrists/fingers.
Old Hershey’s kisses (decades ago) were better than the ones you eat today.

Hmmm…….and not a glove in sight on *any* of those bare hands !! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|scream)

Back when you REALLY hoped people heeded those signs posted in employee bathrooms reminding them to PLEASE wash their hands before leaving……

.
I was surprised several years back when I found out how they are manufactured.
I just copied this off the web:
“Hershey’s Kisses got its name from the machine that makes them, which makes kissing sounds and appears to “kiss” the conveyor belt onto which the chocolate is dispensed”
I’m sure there are videos in the web.
Melts in their hand before it gets to my mouth
First thought, I was reminded of the scene of Lucy working in a candy factory assembly line on the old I Love Lucy Tv show.
It looks like the kisses are being packaged and weighed, not individually hand-wrapped.
Zero of the people in this image look happy to be there
I’d freak out today if I unwrapped a Kiss, and it had a fingerprint on it.
