I can’t be mean anymore ever 🙁
With me it’s flipped XD
God that’s cringey
And then go back to “they must be saved” because being mean feels bad. We’re not all sociopaths.
This is me in The Witcher 3. First playthrough I was all nice. Even stayed with Yennifer. Second playthrough I killed everyone I could, and went full bore on that threesome with Yen and Triss…didn’t expect the outcome.
Anyways, yeah, The Witcher 3 was fun.
Every Souls game.
Go through a timid untrained prince. Come out with a level 1 naked deprived bashing everything with a club and fearing nothing.
some fable runs I was “why not both”
I love wc3
The Warcraft 4 that never was will forever haunt me.
“Why do you play as a psychopath on your second playthrough?!”
“… there must always be a Lich King…”
hahaha
I find it hard to be the a.hole character in games but its funny to watch videos especially from dragon age and fallout of characters being a.holes
I can’t be too mean to those NPCs, I don’t wanna hurt their feelings now.
I mean, if you have already done a goody two shoes playthrough, the only thing left is… everything else.
Arthas’ story is one of the best arcs in all of gaming. The WotLK expansion was fantastic for WoW. The companion book, Arthas, was excellent as well.
I’m actually struggling with this in Dishonored 2 at the moment. I want a good ending so like the first game am trying to stealth my way through the game non-lethally. Buuuuuut the game has such fun combat and really fun lethal skills etc to use that it feels like a shame not to use them. I don’t really tend to replay games straight away these days either so it’s not like I’ll do a second lethal run as a different character. I kind of wish the ending wasn’t tied to your general gameplay actions.
I usually play a stoic, reluctant hero in my first play through and then a sadistic, evil asshole in the second if the game allows it
The first playthrough is always to protect your personality.
This was me in Bioshock
I do the opposite. Evil first then if the game is good enough I will see how the good side goes.
I do the evil runs only if they deserve it… except for fable 3. It’s just kinda more fun in that game.
holy warcraft icon
Nah, I went the other way around in my 1st playthrough of Elden Ring. It’s ~~Third Impact time~~ Frenzy Flame time, beetches. I also let Melina burn herself so she wouldn’t bother me post credits trying to kill me.
Whenever I feel like, I’ll go simp for the doll witch on my NG+, but for the time being… MAY CHAOS TAKE THE WORLD!!!
I’ve not played an RPG since the 16 bit era but does everyone you meet still seem really ungrateful that you’re saving the world for them?
“You can only fight the dragon, that is about to kill us and all our children, with this magic sword …. It’s $5m no refunds”
I can’t do that, it’ll make the pixels sad and I can’t handle that
Nothing had a better range of evil options than Knights of the Old Republic 2. You could really push things to planetary devastation levels.
1st play through is always me just being me, 2nd play through is me making as many of the best choices as possible. 3rd is murder hobo
I’m the opposite. First playthrough as evil asshole because I don’t yet care about characters and the world. Second as good guy since I spent hours with characters and don’t want to be a dick to them.
When i played RDRII, i did the opposite. First playthrough i was a monster. Not a man, woman or animal passed my sight and lived. The second playthrough i was the nicest man in the 19th century
Fable series be like….
Nah, i did the “fuck ya’ll” run my first playtrough in fable
I always play on the bad side on my first playthrough.
I’m sorry Millicent
I’m the opposite, at least if there are evil based abilities. They always seem cooler to me. KOTOR comes to mind here. Sith force powers are ways cooler. Playing Jedi was more of a slog imo.
All I know is Frostmourne hungers!
I love Warcraft, spent so much time on that game
Being the asshole is always my first playthrough, or the only one.
It’s so more fun.
Man WC3 had some great art…
Is there even any rts games that has a solid campaign as wc3? I played through it twice same for frozen throne as well. Loved every minute of it.
Lol, just did cos dungeon last night
I definitely prefer games where you can treat each choice as its own moral decision. Games like Mass Effect, KOTOR, or Dishonored kind of suck, in that they tie the gameplay to your morality. If you want to unlock certain abilities or endings, you need to make the same kind of choice the whole way through. That means you’re no longer choosing when you have a decision to make, after the very first choice, because you simply pick light side, paragon, save the little sisters, or what have you every time.
I definitely prefer games where you can sometimes be harsh, sometimes be extra kind, but there isn’t some arbitrary points assigned to it, you simply watch the outcome unfold and decide for yourself if you chose right.
Give me a game like Dragon Age, Witcher, This War of Mine, Papers, Please, or even Darkest Dungeon instead. You make choices based on what you think in the moment, or what you need to survive. You might not find out the consequences for a long time. You might simply have to live with your choices.
When being the good guy or bad guy is tied to some stat or gameplay hook, then you end up like OP’s image, one generic good playthrough, one straight evil playthrough.
Being neutral or making each choice meaningful makes for far more interesting gameplay.
Mass effect?
God they need to make a Tv show series or a movie about Arthas’s decent into the Lich King.
I don’t think its nostalgia talking because I was about 15 when i played those games but the storyline was just so fantastic.
Except halfway trough I’m switching to the good side again because I can’t stand seeing those little NPCs getting hurt.
I actually stopped playing WC3 when Arthas became a traitor and I was supposed to continue playing *him*, the evil piece of shit. Only years later I forced myself to finish that campaign, because I wanted to know how the story ended, but I was cursing the developers of the game the entire time.
