When the camera focuses on each soldier’s face right before Joker puts the sniper out of her misery. Joker is absolutely terrified to kill a person. Animal Mother gives off a stoic appearance, but you can still detect a subtle shade of hesitancy. And finally Rafterman, as Shakespeare put it in *Macbeth*, was “…in blood / Stepped in so far that, should I wade no more, / Returning were as tedious as go o’er.” At that point, Rafterman was basically a demon and Kubrick and Kevyn Major Howard each did a fantastic job at visually reflecting that idea in the scene.
