Half of that is angry Saudis
I’m just sad for the people who were considering season tickets and thought that they can go as many times as they want. Now they will lucky to be able to see one match at an reasonable price.
Wow 5M is more than any NFL team? That is surprising.
Now Ronaldo just needs to have a change of heart and join MLS and the epic showdown is on.
Ticket prices for those matches also skyrocketed
Americans are genuinely surprised by this. It’s almost as if, the sporting world doesn’t revolve around American sports? Dunno.
How many of those people are buying jerseys and going to games though?
Soccer stars are in a whole different league when it comes to popularity.
Let’s talk about soccer: see if Inter Miami can qualify to the playoffs
So happy to hear he didn’t sign with that shit hole of a country called Saudi Arabia and also fuck the PGA
The stadium in Fort Lauderdale could be a total fiasco with people trying to get into the games. It only seats around 17k and with the culture in soflo there are a shitload of soccer fans. People might understand this and not show up without a ticket but I’m not so sure.
Dang, that’s even more than Rhea Ripley
Not as many as Lars Nootbaar
I’d be more surprised if all of those followers were Americans that decided to follow because of Messi vs his die hard fan base just following because that’s his team now
Who would willingly move to Florida?
The Dolphins should get him to kick field goals on the side. Just for the social media engagement and jersey sales.
Hope US Soccer fans are ready for the cancer that is Messi fans, like a roving pack of furious worker ants.
Is he gonna play on turf?
No wonder that ref didn’t see the handball last night.
Dude literally crossed off the last box on his career checklist and was like: fuck it imma drop 100 on some Americans for a while.
pretty sick lol
I was somewhat familiar with MLS but even I wasn’t aware of Inter Miami
This is cool, but MLS names are lacking just biting off names of Euro clubs.
Damn 6.2 now
The best part is throwing the Saudis money back in their face! Miami welcomes you Messi you’ll fit right in!
TIL Twitter is still on
It’s like getting Brad Pitt to star in your student film
What’s going on in Miami, first the F1 now Messi. It kinda wants people to forget they are part of Florida, nobody likes Florida
Unlike all those other sports, soccer fans will follow players exclusively
The MLS is where footballers go to die
Don’t even get us started on how high tickets for Miami games became. Was looking at tickets for Miami at Red Bull arena in New York and tickets for that game used to be around $70 and then now around $400
And the guy next to him? That’s David soccer!
6.3 million right now.
Messi alone has more than 400 Millon followers on Instagram so it’s not surprising. Roughly one in four Instagram users follow him.
Did that dude on Netflix’s collection Kings call this when he said Messi would light the US soccer popularity on fire but couldn’t go into details?
Now that I don’t watch golf, should I start watching MLS?
i dont think some americans know what they’re in for here ,this is probably the 2nd most recognisable person in the world coming to play in a team that doesnt have a stadium
This is awesome, but as a basketball fan I think this points to how far ahead the NBA is in 1. Digital Marketing and more importantly 2. International appeal than the other major leagues in NA. The Warriors alone have 30.5 million on IG. Lakers at 22.8. Insane.
That’s the business.
You don’t buy players to win but to bring more attention and sell more merchandise
Winning too is to sell more
At 6.4 million now
