In grade school in the ’70s the teacher had an open container of mercury that he had the kids stick a finger in to demonstrate that your finger would not break the surface tension. Still my finger came out with some residue on it.
Fast forward 50 years and we’re not allowed to have mercury thermometers lest they break and set off a hazmat event.
