Linda and Emmylou captured backstage in LA, prior to a concert. The style Linda adopted here was finding scout uniforms that fit her small frame. In this photo, the troop info lists “Elyria, Ohio,” as its’ location. She noted in contemporary interviews that she would visit stores while on tour, looking for such outfits.
Schapiro captured Linda several times during this era, both in staged and informal shots. One often-used photo depicts Linda in a floral print, holding out her arm, as if hitch-hiking.
Steve Schapiro (1934-2022) passed away recently at 87, but was an outstanding photographer for decades. Some of his notable photos included iconic shots of Andy Warhol, Truman Capote, James Baldwin, Martin Luther King, Jr., Robert F. Kennedy, Dustin Hoffman, Barbra Streisand, David Bowie, Marlon Brando on the set of “The Godfather,” Robert De Niro on the set of “Taxi Driver,” and many others.
This would be in Ronstadt’s pre Plow King jingle era.
